Galt comprises a large portion of Cambridge which is why it’s usually broken into three distinct neighbourhoods with unique characteristics: East Galt, West Galt and North Galt.
East Galt, Cambridge:
East Galt home are some of the most southerly in Cambridge. This area is quickly growing, with many developments building new homes in the area. This part of Galt is close to Brantford and Hamilton, perfect for commuters to either of these cities. In addition to newer homes, East Galt features many communities with century homes. This is also the part of Galt where the downtown core is located, with several blocks lining the Grand River which are filled with vibrant local businesses, restaurants and apartment/condo buildings.
West Galt, Cambridge:
The different neighbourhoods in West Galt are best described as quaint communities that feature historic Victorian homes and brand new developments like Highland Ridge. The newest Blacksmith Lofts on Cedar St. are condos that are rich with history, something that tends to define West Galt. This part of Cambridge is also near the Southworks Mall which is filled with outlet stores, unique retail shops and Canada’s largest antique mall. The addition of the Dunfield Theatre to the area provides residents with a state-of-the-art facility with world-class acoustics. West Galt is also where the University of Waterloo’s School of Architecture is located, which draws in top students from around the world. If you live in West Galt, you’ll have easy access to the 401, Kitchener, Brantford, Ayr and Hamilton.
North Galt, Cambridge:
Homes in the neighbourhood of North Galt, Cambridge come in a wide variety of sizes and styles from brand new to heritage, with the majority of homes built in the past 30 years. North Galt is an attractive area to live in you need to be near the 401 and Hespeler Road. This is the part of Cambridge where you’ll find the Cambridge Centre Mall, many of Cambridge’s core businesses and different plazas.
