Happy Halloween from Dewar Realty

Spooky Season is Here!

With Halloween just around the corner, pumpkins and fake spiderwebs have begun popping up all around the neighbourhoods. Like many parents, you might be wondering what to do with your little ones this year, as there is a lot of uncertainty to what is even available or open.

Luckily Waterloo Region has plenty to do! Here are some local fun ideas from TheRecord.com:

Family Fun at Snyder’s Farm

Open each weekend in October, Snyder’s Farm offers classic farm attractions like hayrides, a corn maze, haunted house, animal barnyard and more. This outdoor, physically distanced experience also includes a licensed patio and a bakery serving delicious food and drinks.

Go Thrill-Seeking at Bingemans Screampark

This is one horrifying walk — and there are zero ways to prepare for the fear! With six terrifying attractions like the Dead Marsh and Shivering Woods, Screampark is sure to leave you shaking in your shoes (not recommended for children under 12). Screampark is open Thursday through Sunday from now until Oct. 31.

Take a Ride on Waterloo Central Railway’s Sunday Dayliner

If haunted houses and corn mazes aren’t for you, this round-trip train journey is the perfect alternative. The 60-minute ride takes you from the Village of St. Jacobs to the Town of Elmira through beautiful farming landscape with scenic views of the changing fall colours. The Dayliner offers two rides every Sunday afternoon in October.

Explore the Fear Farm

Snyder’s Farm may offer family fun during the day, but once the sun goes down the farm becomes a fright! The Fear Farm features four haunting attractions as well as eats, treats and a licensed patio. Open weekend evenings after 6:45 p.m.

Take in the St. Jacobs Pumpkin Parade

Pick up a free pumpkin in the Village of St. Jacobs, take it home and carve it, and then bring it back to line the streets Oct. 29 and 30. Wear a costume when you come back to the village to see all the jack-o-lanterns and you could win prizes!

Attend the Spirit Season Fundraiser at Homer Watson House

This spooky fundraiser runs for the last three weekends in October and offers a variety of different events, including psychic readings with a medium, an authentic ghost hunt, workshops and an immersive séance-themed adventure. All proceeds go towards supporting the Homer Watson House and Gallery's mission to provide accessible arts education, exhibitions and events in the community.

Have Fun While Staying Safe

Whatever you choose to do this Halloween season, all of us here at Dewar Realty hope you have a blast, while remaining safe. Oh, and save some candy corn and hot chocolate for us!
